Testimonies of God's Awesomeness
$10 Turned Into Thousands...
One time our preacher told us to pray about what we should give
in the offering. He said to give only what the Lord told us to give,
no more and no less. So, I'm sitting there with the total sum of
one crisp $10 bill to my name. It was money that I was counting
on to buy food for our over thirty live-in residents at Harbor House.
I rather thought I had an exemption from praying since my money
was ALREADY DESIGNATED to the work of the Lord, but I bowed
my head anyway, and whispered this prayer:
"Lord, you know how much money I have and what it is going to
be used for. I don't have any change, so how can I give even a part
of this? You don't want me to give it ALL, do You? In Jesus name I
pray. Amen"
With my eyes completely shut, I saw a bright light and in the center
of the light, I saw Jesus hanging on the cross, and this thought
came to me, "How much did I give for you?" Oh...man, He wanted
me to give the ENTIRE $10 because He gave His ALL for me!
So I thanked Him for the fact that I had the ten dollars to give,
and praised Him that somehow, some way, that He would provide
our dinner. I didn't give under pressure or manipulation from the
preacher, but I gave it as unto the Lord. I had no idea at the time
that the Lord was "setting me up" to bless me.
Sometimes we are told to give and that we are to EXPECT to reap
from our giving, but in this situation, it was out of sheer obedience
that I gave because He told me to, and there was no ulterior motive,
only that I loved Him and wanted to please Him.
That afternoon a long time friend, that I hadn't heard from for months,
called. After some chit chat, he asked what I was presently doing and
I told him about the Harbor House ministry of taking in runaways. He
asked how I was supporting it and I told him on faith. He then said,
"Well, I own some grocery stores now. Why don't you go to one of
them and get some food. In fact, for the next THREE MONTHS go and
get ALL OF THE FOOD YOU NEED to feed that bunch of renegades!" WOW!
He later provided temporary jobs for some of the kids.
The boy that gave Jesus his lunch when Jesus needed to feed the
multitude had no idea where he would get lunch after he gave his away.
But he gave it to the Lord. Jesus took the lunch, lifted it up to the
Father and blessed it. Thousands were fed that day because of one
deed done in the name of Jesus, for the sake of the Kingdom of God.
The boy's motive was not to give to get, but because he gave, he got.
Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in
the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father
through him.

The following Psalm tells us that our God reigns over the earth;
over ALL, both the good as well as the evil. When He is the Lord of
our life, He rules and reigns over every situation...the blessings, as
well as the frightening experiences. His desire is to rain down His
blessings upon those that allow Him to reign over their life. This
series is about the testimonies that resulted when we trusted His
word and allowed Him to reign over some unexpected situations
that flooded into our lives. May His name be lifted up.
Psalm 93
THE Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty;
The Lord is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength.
Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved.
Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting.
The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
The floods have lifted up their voice;
The floods lift up their waves.
The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters,
Than the mighty waves of the sea.
Your testimonies are very sure;
Holiness adorns Your house, O Lord, forever.
