Testimonies of God's Awesomeness

Will God Supply...Even Strawberry Pie?

The first ministry that the Lord led me into was, "Harbor House."

We took young people in off of the streets, especially drug addicts

and runaways. We depended completely on the Lord to supply

everything for our thirty-two residents. There were no organized

outside sponsors to look to. God met our needs through answered

prayers, including each and every meal.

I had taught the girls to share the responsibility of cooking the meals.

They were also responsible to "pray in the food" or the money to buy

food for the over thirty ravishing appetites. The day of this particular

incident, however, was my turn to pray in the food and cook. As I

prayed and asked Him what to fix, I was confident that I heard, "Fried

chicken, potatoes, broccoli and strawberry pie." I felt that I had received

His confirmation when the first telephone call of the day was the local

Safeway grocery store telling us that someone had come in and paid for

six chickens for us...I really was very confident that I had heard from

God about our evening meal and that He would supply everything for it.

In the afternoon, the potatoes and broccoli arrived in the daily box of

vegetables that another grocery store saved for us from vegetables

that they removed from the shelves ... so I proceeded to bake the pie

crust shells, knowing that the strawberries were on their way. At

about 4:30 P.M. I became a little concerned since no strawberries, or

money to purchase them, had arrived. I prayed again. . .yep, no doubt

about it, it was to be strawberry pie for dessert. . .

The only money I had to my name was one dollar. Thinking that perhaps

there might be a sale on strawberries at the fresh fruit market, I asked

one of the fellows to go to the market and buy me as many boxes of

strawberries that $1.00 would purchase. He shortly called me to report

that one pint cost $1.49, so I disappointedly told him to come back home.

Back to the prayer room I went. "God, I already told everyone that you

were going to supply our strawberry pie. They're going to lose faith in

my judgment if You. . . ." I got interrupted by the Lord with, "Oh, ye of

little faith!" So I stopped complaining and began thanking the Lord for

however and whatever He was going to do to supply the strawberries at

the last hour.

On his way home, as the young man followed behind a big truck, it made

a sharp turn and a crate of "something" fell off. To avoid the box from

causing an accident, he stopped to remove it from the roadway. By this

time the truck was long gone, so he decided to bring it home. Yes, it was

twenty-four pints of fresh, plump, and I might add, the most delicious,

strawberries I've ever tasted.

I can hardly quote Philippians 4:19 "My God shall supply all your need

according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus," without wanting to add:

"And my God will supply your strawberry pie, too!"

With His blessings continually being rained upon me,

I joyously remain under His reign and rule,

Psalm 93

THE Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty;

The Lord is clothed, He has girded Himself with strength.

Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be moved.

Your throne is established from of old;

You are from everlasting.

The floods have lifted up, O Lord,

The floods have lifted up their voice;

The floods lift up their waves.

The Lord on high is mightier than the noise of many waters,

Than the mighty waves of the sea.

Your testimonies are very sure;

Holiness adorns Your house, O Lord, forever.

This Psalm tells us that our God reigns over the earth; over ALL,

both the good as well as the evil. When He is the Lord of our life,

He rules and reigns over every situation...the blessings, as well

as the frightening experiences. His desire is to rain down His

blessings upon those that allow Him to reign over their life. This

series is about the testimonies that resulted when we trusted His

word and allowed Him to reign over some unexpected situations

that flooded into our lives. May His name be lifted up.
