MY GOD SHALL SUPPLY

."Could we talk, Lord?"

Yes, when things don't seem to be working out as we hoped, communication is what is probably lacking. I've found that I am the one misunderstanding when it comes to the things of God. God doesn't lie..and He doesn't make mistakes...soooo, that pretty much puts any misunderstandings on MY SHOULDERS! He has invited us to..."Come, let's talk this over! says the Lord...If you will only let me help you, if you will only obey..." (Isaiah 1:18-20 L/B) I hear Him speak, but when there is a misunderstanding with my understanding...I have to stop and take the time to find out where I missed it, or realize that He has a time frame and will do what He has promised in His perfect timing. Look how long Abraham and Sarah had to wait for their promise to be fulfilled!

The following story is from a book I'm working on...now don't laugh, I know EVERYONE is writing a book, but, hey...it gives me something to do in my spare time...Hahahaha! The point of this particular chapter is that I heard God speak...He told me what He was going to do...BUT I was trying to tell Him HOW and WHEN to do it... Not a good idea!

MY GOD SHALL SUPPLY--"YOUR STRAWBERRY PIE"

Steve and my first ministry together was "Harbor House," a live in home for youth. When you take kids in off of the streets, especially addicts and run-a-ways most anything can, and usually does, happen. This was Christian ministry that required complete dependency on the Lord for their every need. It was living day by day on faith. . . it meant trusting God to meet the needs of over thirty young people; it was trusting God for their salvation, healing, deliverance, and their daily bread...one meal at a time because we had no organized outside help. God would met our needs through answered prayers. He spoke to various people's hearts who knew what we were attempting to do, and they would respond to Him by providing our need, or He provided a miracle in another manner.

There were great miracles, and we experienced smaller blessings. In the particular situation in this chapter, I had taught the girls at the house to share the responsibility of cooking the meals. In itself, a sort of miracle (lol), but cooking the meal was the least of their responsibility. They also had to pray in the food or the money to buy food for over thirty ravishing appetites. I happened to be in charge of the cooking that day, because I rarely asked them to do anything I was not willing to do myself.

Praying and asking God what we were to eat was first on the early agenda. "Fried chicken, potatoes, broccoli and strawberry pie" came through to my spirit clearly. And the first telephone call of the day was the local Safeway Grocery chain telling us that someone had come in and paid for some chickens for us. . . there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that I had heard from God about our evening meal. Some potatoes and broccoli were delivered from another source... so I proceeded to bake the pie crust shells.

At about 4:30 P.M. I became concerned because no strawberries had arrived. I prayed again. . .yep, "Strawberry pie!". . .no doubt about it, it was to be strawberry pie for dessert. So decided to help God out a little bit. The only money I had to my name was one dollar, so I got it and asked one of the fellows to go down to the fresh fruit market and buy me as many boxes of strawberries that $1.00 could purchase. I thought I had it all figured out.. God had put strawberries on sale for 10 boxes for $1.00. I still had not lost my faith that God had told me strawberry pies, but I couldn't figure out HOW He could do it after 4:30 P.M. without my help.

The guy called me from the fruit market to report that one pint cost $1.49, so I disappointedly told him to come on home. Back to the prayer room I went. "God, I already told everyone that You were going to supply our strawberry pie. They're going to lose faith in my judgment if You don't. . . ." I got interrupted by the Lord with, "Oh, ye of little faith! When will You trust me to do things My way?" So I stopped complaining and began thanking the Lord for whatever He was going to do about supplying the strawberry pies.

On the way home from the fruit market a big truck turned a sharp corner and a crate of something fell off on the road. The Harbor House fellow stopped to remove it from the roadway. By that time the truck was long gone, so he brought it home. Yes, it was twenty-four pints of fresh, ripe, and I might add, the most delicious strawberries I've ever tasted. I can hardly quote Phillipians 4:19 "My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus," without adding: "And my God shall supply your strawberry pie, if you will, BY FAITH, allow him to do it HIS WAY and in HIS PERFECT TIMING!"

God usually does not do things the way we have it figured out that He should...and that is good...because then we'd try to become the boss, and He'd become OUR servant! Have a great day!

In Him and He in Me,

MARCHING ORDERS #424

Marching orders are compiled from verses out of the Living Bible.

No commentary is added...they are the paraphrased Word of God.

The King James Version is available upon request.

"As Christ's soldier do not let yourself become tied up in

worldly affairs, for then you cannot satisfy the one who

enlisted you in his army." II Timothy 2:4 L/B

.

God did as he had promised (to Sarah).

O my people, trust him all the time. Pour out your longings before him, for he can help!

David took strength from the Lord.

God will surely come and get you, and bring you out of this land of Egypt and take you back to the land he promised to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

I have seen the anguish of my people in Egypt and have heard their cries. I have come down to deliver them. And by means of many remarkable miracles he led them out of Egypt and through the Red Sea, and back and forth through the wilderness for forty years.

Every good thing the Lord had promised them came true.  There is no question that he will do what he says. Has he ever promised, without doing what he said?

Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words remain forever.

The grass withers, the flowers fade, but the Word of our God shall stand forever.
