With God... Nothing is Impossible!

I think we all believe that statement...that God is able to do anything. Where I often run into a problem is believing that He'll do it for ME! That was the case when my Bible Study Group was praying for the Lord to provide a way to get some of our children's TV spots aired on our local ABC Network Station.

We had no idea how much it would cost...but I remember one lady reminding God, in her prayer, how He implied that He could even put a camel through the eye of a needle (referring to Matt. 19:23-26). She seemed to have the faith that the TV series we had produced out in Virginia Beach for the Christian Broadcasting Network would some how be aired locally. And to put some feet on her faith, she organized a bake sale to raise funds for the endeavor. She raised $234.

In the meantime, upon the insistence of my husband, I had applied for the talk show hostess position at the new TV station, never dreaming I'd get the position that 120 others had applied for. I remember praying as I filled out my resume' and asking the Lord to NOT let me get the job unless it was His perfect will. I didn't feel qualified, nor did I want a secular job. But as I began typing, I clearly heard Him tell me to put a photo of myself on the resume', so I obeyed. And was I ever surprised when I got called in for an interview.

The day of the interview, I had a horrid case of hay fever and my nose was bright red from rubbing it and sneezing, then, when I reached down to pull a tiny fuzz ball off of my navy blue stocking, a hole about the size of an orange appear right up front and center. I know I looked a sight! As I sat down across from him, the station manager looked at me, reached down and picked up a resume' that he had set aside, looked at me again and said, "You're Marlene, huh?" When I said yes, he said, "You have the job!" I was dumbfounded. He scarcely knew that I could talk, so how could he have made the decision so rapidly? It was the photo...he had a thing about people putting their photos on a resume'. He told me that he felt I had far more intelligence than the other applicants since I had included a photo with my resume'... Well, it was more than apparent to me that God wanted me to have that job.

As it turned out, the first week on the air, the network had lost some tapes of commercials and PSA's (public service announcements) and the station was desperate for something to run during those open times. I just happened to have my twelve children's TV spots to offer them to fill the void. The station ended up running those spots five to six times a day for nearly a year... It would have cost us tens upon tens of thousands of dollars had we paid for the air time... The $234. that we made with the bake sale probably would not have paid to air one spot one time. This only shows how our efforts, no matter how noble, are so diminutive in comparison to God's ability.

I think I enjoyed that job more than anything else I've ever done. God blessed that ABC program, "People-to-People" (now you know where I got the name for our discussion page...lol) with high ratings...He guided me every step of the way and helped me learn how to produce a television program, and the frosting on the cake was...most of my co-workers ended up getting either saved or filled with the Holy Spirit.. At the time, I would have thought it would have been "easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle" than to get those Christian spots on a secular television station so many times at absolutely no cost to us.... but with GOD ALL THINGS POSSIBLE!

Some of you are facing some monumental mountains in your lives right now. You've done all you can do, but nothing seems to be working...it all appears hopeless. The Lord may be saying to you, "Be still and know that I am God." There comes a time when we need to realize that God is the ONLY answer. He is the only One that can do the impossible. Whatever you are going through, won't you surrender it to Him today, He can work a miracle for you...with HIM, IT IS POSSIBLE!

Lord Jesus, with you nothing is impossible...You promise to give us all we need from day to day if we will make the Kingdom of God our primary concern (Luke 12:31). Your grace and love surpass all else. Your loving kindness is renewed every morning. Lord, many of us are carrying heavy burdens...burdens we give to you right now. We turn to You in our time of need, trusting in your Word, and thanking you for caring so much about us. We look to you as our source, our deliver, our problem solver, and redeemer. We give over to You these things that are so troublesome, things that are far beyond our ability to solve, in Jesus' name. Amen

In His love,

Marlene

MARCHING ORDERS #310

Marching orders are compiled from paraphrased verses out of the Living Bible. No commentary is added...they are the pure Word of God.

"As Christ's soldier do not let yourself become tied up in worldly affairs, for then you cannot satisfy the one who enlisted you in his army." II Timothy 2:4 L/B

Jehovah provides.

God will see to it.

Listen now! The Lord isn’t too weak to save you. And he isn’t getting deaf! He can hear you when you call!

There shall come out of Zion a Deliverer, and he shall turn the Jews from all ungodliness.

Happy is the man who has the God of Jacob as his helper, whose hope is in the Lord his God.

The eyes of the Lord are watching over those who fear him, who rely upon his steady love. He will keep them from death.

It is he who will supply all your needs from his riches in glory, because of what Christ Jesus has done for us.

God has said, “I will never, never fail you nor forsake you.” That is why we can say without any doubt or fear, “The Lord is my Helper and I am not afraid of anything that mere man can do to me.”

He is my strength, my shield from every danger. I trusted in him, and he helped me. Joy rises in my heart until I burst out in songs of praise to him.
