GOD! Where are You?

I don't seem to know where God is anymore. ):

How about it? Haven't we ALL been there before? When we don't know if God is hearing us...not sure if he knows, or even cares? We cannot feel His presence any more. Thanks JW for reminding us about those times of discouragement and for sharing what you are going through. Thanks for reaching out for comfort and help.

For me personally, when I get discouraged I run to the Psalms and find that even David, a man after God's own heart, became discouraged, depressed and despondent. David realized something that we all must realize...and that is...it was NOT the Spirit of God within him that was depressed. We see this as he speaks to his SOUL...and the soul is the seat of our emotions and feelings. David said things like...Why art thou discouraged, O my soul?...(Ps. 42)... Why be discouraged and sad... downcast? I stand here depressed and gloomy.

The solution that David found for depression and discouragement is also found in the Psalms. In this particular one, Ps.42, again, speaking to his soul, his FEELINGS and EMOTIONS, he says... Hope in God! I shall again praise Him for His help. Yet I am standing here depressed and gloomy, but I will meditate upon Your kindness...

Ps. 42:11... But O my soul, don't be discouraged. Don't be upset. Expect God to act! For I know that I shall again have plenty of reason to praise him for all that he will do. He is my help. He is my God!

David is saying in these verses...GET YOUR EYES OFF OF YOUR FEELINGS

AND THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND ON TO GOD AND HIS WORD. What does this say to us? It says to me that when I am discouraged I have spent too much time OUT of God's Word. My mind has convinced me that God isn't there, isn't going to bless me, doesn't care, etc., etc. It tells me that my thoughts and feelings, MY SOUL is being fed lies from the Devil, and that I need to spend more time in the Word of God to counter these attacks.

Paul warns us, by telling us to put on the helmet of salvation daily, that the Devil has access to our minds. When we smother these doubts that he places in our minds with what God has said...His Word, our peace and joy WILL RETURN!

God's Word, HIS PROMISES, His character and nature need to be spoken to our souls as a reminder of WHOM and WHAT we believe in. Others can try to convince us that everything is going to be awl-r-i-i-i-ght, but unless what they speak to us is God's word about the situation, their words will fall on deaf ears, because only His Word will bring life!

My suggestion to you, JW, is to get into God's Word, and you will find out where He is... IMMEDIATELY! He has been there...all the time! He has told you that He loves you, that He WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU, and He is there ready to take care of you. He has said that His eyes are constantly watching everything that concerns you. That is the TRUTH!

Jesus . . . knew mankind to the core. No one needed to tell him how changeable

human nature is! - “Lord, you know my heart; you know I am (your friend).”
